French Legation State Historic Site

Built in 1841 for the French chargé d'affaires to the Republic of Texas, the French Legation State Historic Site is one of the oldest purpose-built residences in Austin. Managed by the Texas Historical Commission, the site features restored historic structures, exhibits detailing French-Texas relations, and scenic grounds. Visitors can tour the main house and historic kitchen or relax in the surrounding parkland in East Austin.
