Anthony (Totonno) Pero was the first pizzaiolo at the famed Lombardi's (first licensed pizzeria) in America in 1905 when it opened. He established Totonno's in Coney Island after leaving Lombardi's in 1924. Presently the place is operated by his grandchildren. They use handmade mozzarella cheese, fresh dough made daily, and finest ingredients imported from Italy in their famous pies. The place has featured in many outlets such as "Ugly Delicious", "Somebody feed Phil", earning many accolades "Only God Makes Better Pizza", "Best Pizza in New York, Possibly the World", "The Ultimate", etc.. The place uses the original receipes passed down from Totonno himself.
