Bryce Canyon National Park Sunrise Point

Sunrise Point is one of Bryce Canyon National Park’s classic rim overlooks, known for its sweeping view over the park’s amphitheater of orange and pink hoodoos. It’s especially popular at sunrise, when the light brings out the layered colors and makes the formations stand out in dramatic relief. From here, travelers can also connect directly to the Rim Trail for an easy walk along the canyon edge.

History

Sunrise Point is a developed overlook on Bryce Canyon’s rim that became part of the park’s visitor experience as the area was opened up for scenic access and trail use. Like other named viewpoints along the rim, it reflects the park’s long emphasis on giving visitors accessible places to see the amphitheater and its hoodoos from above.

• Expect cold, windy conditions at the rim even when the valley below is warm.
• The overlook is near the Rim Trail, so it works well as a starting point for a short walk.
• Stay on marked paths and keep back from the edge; the drop-offs are steep and exposed.
