History

Tillamook Rock Lighthouse was built on a small offshore basalt rock and became one of the most challenging lighthouse sites on the West Coast because of the rough surf and exposed location. The lighthouse was later decommissioned, and the rock is now best known as a distant landmark seen from the Cannon Beach area rather than as an open visitor site.
