King Kamehameha Statue

Located directly in front of Aliʻiolani Hale in downtown Honolulu, the King Kamehameha I Statue stands as a grand 18-foot bronze tribute to Hawaii's legendary monarch. Cast to honor the ruler who unified the islands in 1810, the statue depicts him in traditional royal regalia. Situated just across the street from ʻIolani Palace, it remains one of Oahu's most iconic and revered historical landmarks.

History

The statue was created by sculptor Thomas Ridgeway Gould and was unveiled in 1883. It has since become a symbol of Hawaiian unity and pride, commemorating Kamehameha's legacy of unifying the Hawaiian Islands.
