Cuyamaca Rancho State Park

Cuyamaca Rancho State Park covers over 26,000 acres of oak woodlands, pine forests, and mountain peaks in San Diego County. Visitors can enjoy more than 100 miles of trails suited for hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking. The park also features popular campsites, picnic areas, and summit vistas from Stonewall Peak and Cuyamaca Peak.

History

Originally part of the ancestral land of the Kumeyaay people, Cuyamaca Rancho State Park's history is deep-rooted in indigenous culture and later Spanish colonization. The park was established in 1933, with land donated by Ralph Dyar, to preserve its natural beauty and historical significance. It played a pivotal role in California's water development and conservation efforts and has been a recreational haven for generations.
