Fern Dell Nature Preserve

Fern Dell Nature Preserve is a serene section of Griffith Park featuring a quarter-mile shaded trail along a meandering man-made brook. Visitors can wander past lush tropical plants, mature sycamore trees, and quiet ponds home to small turtles and wildlife. The gentle, mostly flat walking path connects to steeper trails leading up toward the iconic Griffith Observatory.

History

Fern Dell began as a natural spring, with the surrounding area developed in the early 20th century as a public park. Over the years, it has become a cherished spot for Angelenos, providing a habitat for local flora and fauna and a tranquil retreat for visitors.
