History

The Venice Canals were built in 1905 by developer Abbot Kinney as part of his Venice of America plan, which aimed to recreate the ambiance of Venice, Italy. While many of the canals were filled in during the 1920s, the remaining waterways, including those surrounding Linnie Canal Park, have been restored and preserved as a beloved historical area.
