Runyon Canyon Park is a popular 160-acre urban park situated on the eastern edge of the Santa Monica Mountains directly above Hollywood. Renowned for its off-leash dog areas, celebrity sightings, and varied trail loops, it provides scenic outdoor exercise in the heart of the city. Hikers can choose between paved paths and rugged dirt tracks that lead to breathtaking overlooks of Downtown LA and the Hollywood Sign.

History

Runyon Canyon Park has a rich history, once owned by celebrities and used as a retreat before it was developed into the public park we know today. It was opened to the public in 1984 after the City of Los Angeles acquired it.

Quick tip: Bring plenty of water and arrive early to beat the heat and secure limited neighborhood street parking near the gates.
