Point Dume State Beach features rugged coastal bluffs, rocky coves, and expansive sandy beaches along the Malibu shoreline. The area is also popular for swimming, surfing, scuba diving, and relaxing by the water.
History
Point Dume was named by explorer George Vancouver in 1793 in honor of Padre Francisco Dumetz of Mission San Buenaventura. The headland has been used for various purposes, from Chumash settlement to defense installations during WWII.
