Ahupuaʻa ʻO Kahana State Park

Ahupuaʻa ʻO Kahana State Park is a lush windward Oʻahu valley park where mountains, forest, streams, and a small bay come together in one of the island’s most scenic natural settings. It’s a good place to experience a quieter side of Hawaiʻi through hiking, beach time, and views of the traditional ahupuaʻa landscape that once supported Native Hawaiian life from the mountains to the sea. History

Kahana is an ahupuaʻa, the traditional Hawaiian land division that extends from the uplands to the ocean and supported a self-sustaining community. The area was later preserved as a state park to protect its natural and cultural resources, and it remains one of the few places on Oʻahu where visitors can experience a traditional valley-coast landscape in a relatively undeveloped setting.
