Black's Beach

Black's Beach is a secluded coastal stretch nestled beneath the steep sandstone cliffs of Torrey Pines in La Jolla. Renowned globally among surfers for its powerful waves, it is also famous as one of the largest clothing-optional beaches in the United States. History

Black's Beach's unique character has its roots in the 1970s, when it became known as one of the first and finest nude beaches in the United States. The beach's namesake, William Black, an oil millionaire, owned much of the land surrounding the beach before it was developed.
