Chicano Park

Located in Barrio Logan beneath the San Diego-Coronado Bridge, Chicano Park is a National Historic Landmark celebrated for its massive collection of outdoor murals. History

Established in 1970 after a vehement community-led protest against the construction of a Highway Patrol station on the site originally promised for a community park, Chicano Park has evolved into a symbol of Chicano civil rights movement. The murals began to take shape in 1973, driven by local artists and activists, each telling stories of heritage, resistance, and empowerment. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2017, sealing its place in American cultural history.
