Located on a quiet residential hillside in San Diego, Harper's Topiary Garden features dozens of carefully trimmed shrub sculptures. Created by local homeowners, the lush front-yard display showcases living figures including elephants, whales, dinosaurs, and whimsical shapes. Visitors can easily admire and photograph the unique landscape art directly from the public sidewalk.
History
The idea for Harper's Topiary Garden was conceived more than two decades ago when Edna Harper was inspired by a visit to Thailand, where she saw impressive topiary gardens. Upon returning home, she started to shape the overgrown bushes in her front yard into distinct figures and forms. Over the years, with patience, creativity, and a pair of garden shears, the Harpers transformed their ordinary front yard into an extraordinary topiary masterpiece that attracts visitors from all over.
