Mormon Battalion Historic Site

Located in Old Town San Diego, the Mormon Battalion Historic Site honors the 500 Latter-day Saints who completed a 2,000-mile march during the Mexican-American War. Visitors can experience free guided tours led by costumed docents, interactive multimedia exhibits, and historical artifacts. Guests can also enjoy hands-on activities like panning for gold and brickmaking.

History

Established in memory of the Mormon Battalion's epic march during 1846-1847, the site commemorates the 2,000-mile journey undertaken by over 500 men, who were enlisted to support the U.S. forces during the Mexican-American War. Notably, their journey marked one of the longest military marches in history.
