San Diego Chinese Historical Museum

Located in San Diego's Asian Pacific Historic District, the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum showcases the rich history, culture, and contributions of Chinese Americans in the region. Housed in a beautifully restored historic building, the museum features historical artifacts, photographs, and traditional art objects. Visitors can also explore rotating temporary exhibits across the street at the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Extension.

History

Originally established in 1996, the museum was founded by the San Diego Chinese Historical Society to preserve and share the Chinese culture and history in San Diego. It began in a building that was once a Chinese mission, saved from demolition and moved to its current location, becoming a cornerstone of cultural preservation and education in the area.
