An iconic Art Deco suspension bridge spanning the San Francisco Bay

Golden Gate Bridge
Website Directions 415-455-2000

Spanning the entrance to San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge is one of the world's most famous engineering marvels. Visitors can drive, walk, or bike across the suspension bridge while enjoying panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Alcatraz Island, and the city skyline. Surrounding vista points and nearby coastal trails offer exceptional photography spots along both sides of the strait.

Quick tip: Check online live cameras before visiting, as fog can quickly roll in and obscure the views.

Expert notes

  • Visitors can hike, bike, walk, or take a free walking tour (Thursdays and Sundays only!) of the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge. Check out the new Golden Gate and Pacific Overlooks near the Bridge for beautiful vistas. The west sidewalk of the bridge is reserved for riding bikes only. It opens during weekends and busy times on weekdays. Parking is difficult, especially during weekends and holidays near the welcome center, but one can find parking nearby.
