Seward Street Slides

Nestled within Seward Mini Park near the Castro district, the Seward Street Slides offer a unique thrill for kids and adventurous adults. Designed in the 1960s by a local teenager, these two steep concrete chutes send riders zooming down the hillside. Guests are encouraged to slide on cardboard boxes for maximum speed and fun.

• The Slides sign reads, “No Adults unless accompanied by a child,” but many child-at-heart adults go on their own. Kim Clark, a 14-year-old girl, created the design of slides who grew up in the neighborhood. This hidden gem is tucked away in the maze of winding streets, but the fun is worth the trouble. On-street parking is available. Avoid going during or after rain, and check the street cleaning notice before parking the vehicle.
