Royal Gorge Bridge

There is no Royal Gorge Bridge located within Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. The famous Royal Gorge Bridge & Park is actually located near Cañon City, Colorado, over 100 miles northeast of the park. Visitors to Great Sand Dunes National Park will find towering sand dunes and mountain peaks rather than a suspension bridge.

History

Constructed in 1929, the Royal Gorge Bridge was initially built as a tourist attraction. It has withstood numerous challenges over the years, including a devastating fire in 2013, but it has been restored and remains a symbol of resilience and beauty.
