High Dune

High Dune is one of the most popular hiking destinations in Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. Rising roughly 700 feet above the valley floor, the climb rewards hikers with sweeping 360-degree views of the surrounding dune field and mountain peaks. Reaching the summit typically takes two to three hours round-trip over steep, shifting sand.
