Cabrillo Tide Pools

Located within Cabrillo National Monument at the tip of Point Loma, the Cabrillo Tide Pools offer visitors a chance to observe thriving intertidal ecosystems below dramatic sandstone cliffs. At low tide, exposed rocky basins reveal sea anemones, crabs, limpets, and other fascinating coastal marine creatures. History

The tide pools are named after Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo, who landed at San Diego Bay in 1542. This area, marked by the Cabrillo National Monument, commemorates the first time a European expedition set foot on what later became the West Coast of the United States.
