Located in Sanford along Lake Monroe, the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens features endangered big cats, reptiles, rhinos, and native wildlife along shaded boardwalk paths. Visitors can enjoy interactive experiences like giraffe feeding, a splash pad, and elevated zip-line aerial adventure courses. It offers a family-friendly, easily walkable alternative to Orlando's large theme parks.
History
The zoo began as the Sanford Zoo in 1923 when a small collection of animals were brought together in downtown Sanford. Over the years, it grew in size and scope, moving to its current location in 1975 to become the Central Florida Zoo.
