Pawnee National Grassland

Located in northeastern Colorado east of the Front Range, Pawnee National Grassland spans nearly 193,000 acres of open shortgrass prairie. Managed as part of the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests and Pawnee National Grassland unit, it offers hiking trails, bird-watching, camping, and views of the prominent Pawnee Buttes. While often associated with regional Colorado trips, it is a distinct public land area situated on the high plains east of Rocky Mountain National Park.
