Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park

History

The park was established in the early 20th century and is named for John Pfeiffer, a local pioneer whose family owned land in the Big Sur Valley. Much of the park’s protected landscape reflects the region’s history of conservation and public access, preserving redwood forest and river habitat that might otherwise have been developed.
