The Chicago Lakefront Trail is an 18-mile paved multi-use path running along Lake Michigan from Ardmore Avenue to 71st Street. It features separated lanes for pedestrians and cyclists, offering smooth transit through major waterfront parks, beaches, and green spaces. Along the route, visitors enjoy continuous skyline views and convenient access to attractions such as Navy Pier, Grant Park, and the Museum Campus.

- On a given day, the trail is shared by pedestrians, professionals commuting to work, people training for marathons, caregivers with children in strollers, tourists on rental bikes, and people taking leisure strolls. There are separate bike and pedestrian paths on the trail. Many activities are available on the trail, including dogs at Montrose Beach, a Driving range and mini golf at Diversey, Urban kayaks near downtown, a playground at Margaret Burroughs Beach, and the Promontory point for taking pictures and relaxing, and many more. Public restrooms are available, but they may be closed during winter.
