The Stuart Collection at UC San Diego

The Stuart Collection at UC San Diego is a renowned series of site-specific contemporary public sculptures integrated throughout the university campus. Visitors can take a self-guided walking tour to discover creative works ranging from talking trees and a giant boulder teddy bear to Do Ho Suh's famous cantilevered Fallen Star house. Because most sculptures are situated in open outdoor areas, the collection is accessible to explore freely at any time.

History

Established in 1982 through the vision of James Stuart DeSilva and the support of the UC San Diego Foundation, the Stuart Collection has grown to include works by renowned artists. Each piece is commissioned with the goal of creating a unique dialogue between art, viewer, and the campus setting.
