Lake Balboa/Anthony C. Beilenson Park

Lake Balboa/Anthony C. Beilenson Park is an expansive recreation area located in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. Visitors can walk or jog along the paved 1.3-mile loop around the central lake, rent paddle boats, go fishing, or picnic under shady trees. The grounds also feature a maritime-themed playground, sports areas, and seasonal cherry blossom views.

History

The park was dedicated to Anthony C. Beilenson, a ten-term US congressman who was instrumental in advocating for environmental protection and urban green spaces. The creation of Lake Balboa, as part of the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area, was part of an effort to provide the Los Angeles community with more recreational options and wildlife habitats.
