Golden Gate Park is a sprawling 1,017-acre urban sanctuary stretching from San Francisco's Richmond and Sunset districts to Ocean Beach. Visitors can explore world-class attractions including the California Academy of Sciences, de Young Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, and Conservatory of Flowers. The grounds also feature serene lakes, walking and biking paths, and even a resident bison herd.

So many activities to choose from, including free summer concerts at Music Concourse, children's favorite Koret Children’s Quarter, creating artwork at Sharon Art Studio, Rose Garden, San Francisco Botanical Garden, Japanese Tea Garden, de Young Museum, California Academy of Sciences, Stow Lake and Strawberry Hill, Bison Paddock, watch a Water Race at the San Francisco Model Yacht Club, Dutch Windmills, Shakespeare Garden (a trendy and romantic location), Hunt for tiny wooden tree doors known as fairy doors All over Golden Gate Park, and much more. If visiting in May, you must see or participate in the Bay to Breakers race in the costumes. Finding a parking spot is hard, especially on weekends; check John F. Kennedy Drive, 36th Avenue, 47th Avenue, Martin Luther King Jr Drive, Nancy Pelosi Drive, Kezar Drive, and Ocean Beach Parking lot (free with shuttle service every 15 minutes-20 on weekends!). Visitors must wear comfortable shoes as they will be doing a lot of walking.
